Karachi handles the majority of Pakistan’s seaborne imports. Karachi Port Authority (KPT) and Port Qasim are the two terminals through which container shipments from China arrive. For any importer receiving goods by sea from China, Karachi is where the Pakistan side of the journey begins, and where customs clearance happens.
Al Fajar’s Karachi clearing operations run under our PIFFA registration at both KPT and Port Qasim. We file import Goods Declarations through WeBOC, pay customs duties and taxes on our clients’ behalf, and manage container release at both terminals. Our Karachi port team has established relationships with the relevant customs stations, port agents, and terminal operators, which matters when a consignment needs to move quickly or when an examination is called.

Karachi Port Authority (KPT)
Located at the western end of Karachi's waterfront, KPT is Pakistan's oldest and busiest port. Most general cargo and container shipments from China arrive here. KPT handles the majority of Pakistan's import container volume. Clearance at KPT involves the KPT Container Terminal and associated customs stations.

Port Qasim
Located approximately 35 km east of the city centre, Port Qasim is Pakistan's second major deep-water port. It handles a significant volume of containerised cargo, including bulk goods and project cargo. Some China-Pakistan shipping lines call Port Qasim rather than KPT, or both. Clearance at Port Qasim follows a similar process to KPT but through separate terminal operators.

Customs Clearance at KPT or Port Qasim
On arrival, our licensed customs team files your Goods Declaration through WeBOC, calculates and pays applicable duties and taxes, and manages container release from the terminal.
Delivery to Your Karachi Premises
Once released, we arrange transport from the port to your warehouse or business address in Karachi. For DDP arrangements, delivery to premises is included in the agreed price.

How long does customs clearance take at Karachi Port?
With complete documentation, clearance typically takes 3–7 working days from GD filing. If Pakistan Customs selects the consignment for physical examination, add 3–5 days. Documentation errors are the main cause of delays. We review all documents before filing to prevent holds.
Do you deliver to SITE Area, Korangi, and Landhi?
Yes. Once goods are released from port, we arrange delivery to your premises anywhere in Karachi, SITE Area, Korangi, Landhi, Saddar, or anywhere else in the city. Confirm your delivery address at the time of quoting.
My current clearing agent is not responding. Can you take over?
Yes. If your goods are at Karachi Port and your clearing agent is unreachable, WhatsApp us immediately. Demurrage charges accumulate daily. Provide us with your shipment documents, bill of lading, commercial invoice, packing list, and we will assess what can be done and how quickly.
Can Al Fajar also manage the China side of my shipment?
