Why Pakistani Importers Need a Sourcing Agent
Buying from China Without Local Representation Carries Specific, Preventable Risks
The China import market is not short of available suppliers. Alibaba lists millions of them. The Yiwu International Trade Market has more than 75,000 trade booths. The problem is not finding a supplier it is knowing which ones to trust, what the real price should be, and whether the goods that arrive in Pakistan match what was agreed in the order.
Pakistani importers who source from China independently, without a local representative, encounter a consistent set of problems. Factory listings on B2B platforms do not distinguish between manufacturers and trading companies posing as manufacturers. The sample a supplier sends for approval is not always representative of the production run. Payments made in advance to a new supplier are occasionally the last communication. Specifications described in English arrive at a Chinese factory and leave a production line interpreted differently. Prices agreed by a Pakistani buyer negotiating in English with a Chinese supplier are rarely the prices an agent who knows the market would have accepted.

When a client asks us to find a hardware supplier in Yiwu, our team walks into District 2 of the Yiwu International Trade Market, visits the booths, and talks to suppliers directly in Mandarin, that day. When a client needs a new plastic packaging supplier, our team knows which sections of the market carry the product category and which price points are realistic before the first booth visit. When a supplier’s factory needs to be verified before an order is placed, we drive to the facility, check their business licence against the national enterprise registry, inspect their production floor, and confirm that what they say they manufacture is what they actually manufacture.
This is the function of local presence. A sourcing agent in Lahore who relies on Alibaba verification badges, Google Translate conversations, and video calls via factory-facing cameras does not have this capability. We do, because our team is physically there working the Yiwu market as their daily operating environment, not coordinating it remotely.

How the Sourcing Process Works, From Your Requirement to Goods Ready to Ship
Requirement Brief
You tell us what you need: the product, your specification, target price per unit, order quantity, and any delivery deadline. The more detail you provide at this stage, the more precisely we can match a supplier to your requirement. If you have a reference product, sample, or image, share it.
Supplier Identification
Our Yiwu team researches the relevant market districts and supplier databases to identify candidates that match your specification and price range. We typically shortlist three to five suppliers for your review rather than presenting a single option. Where an order value justifies contacting factories outside Yiwu, we coordinate with manufacturing contacts in other cities.
Supplier Verification
Before we recommend a supplier, we verify their legitimacy. For Yiwu-based suppliers, this includes a physical visit to their booth or facility, confirmation of their business registration against China's national enterprise registry, and an assessment of whether their stated production capacity is credible. For factory-direct suppliers, we visit the production facility where possible.
Sample Procurement
We obtain samples from the verified shortlisted suppliers and forward them to you in Pakistan for review. Samples allow you to assess product quality, confirm specifications, and compare options before placing a full order. We advise on sample costs and lead times at this stage.
Price Negotiation
Once you have selected a supplier, our team negotiates the final unit price, payment terms, and production timeline directly with the supplier in Mandarin. We negotiate knowing what the market price for the category should be — not accepting the first price offered to a foreign buyer
Order Coordination and Shipment
After your order is confirmed, we monitor production progress, conduct a pre-shipment inspection of the finished goods before loading, and hand the consignment to our freight team for export documentation, customs filing, and shipping to Pakistan.

What products can you source from China?
Our Yiwu team sources hardware, household goods, toys, textiles, electronics accessories,
stationery, packaging, and cosmetics. We also coordinate sourcing from Guangzhou, Shenzhen,
and Hangzhou for categories not well-represented in Yiwu. Regulated categories require
Pakistan import permits we advise upfront.
How much does a China sourcing agent charge?
Fees are a fixed project fee or part of a combined sourcing and shipping arrangement. We do
not charge a percentage commission on your order value. Fees are confirmed in writing before
work begins. Contact us with your requirement for a cost estimate.
What is the difference between a sourcing agent and a trading company?
A trading company buys from manufacturers and sells to you their margin is in the product
price. A sourcing agent works on your behalf to find the right manufacturer directly, earning a
service fee. You pay production price, not a trading company markup
Can you source from markets other than Yiwu?
Yes. For electronics we work with Shenzhen contacts; for textiles, Guangzhou and Hangzhou;
for industrial goods, relevant manufacturing cities. Tell us the product and we advise on the right
sourcing location and coordinate accordingly
How do you verify that a supplier is legitimate?
For Yiwu suppliers, we visit their booth or factory in person, verify their business registration
against China’s national enterprise registry, and confirm actual production capacity. Physical
verification cannot be done remotely it is exactly why our Yiwu presence matters.
How long does the sourcing process take?
A straightforward project supplier identification, verification, and sample procurement
Typically takes 1–2 weeks. If samples require production, add 5–10 working days. Complex multi
supplier projects take longer. We give a realistic timeline when you brief us, not a best-case
estimate.
Can I visit the suppliers myself or do you manage everything?
You can visit in person and we recommend it for larger orders. Our team accompanies clients
on Yiwu trips translating meetings, verifying credentials on-site, and advising on pricing.
