Shared Container Shipping, How It Works

LCL stands for Less than Container Load. Rather than booking an entire 20ft or 40ft container for your cargo alone, your goods occupy part of a shared container alongside consignments from other importers. You pay for the cubic meters (CBM) your cargo takes up, not for the full container.


The consolidation process happens at our Yiwu warehouse, where multiple importers’ goods are collected, inspected, and professionally loaded into a shared container before departure. At the Pakistan end, the container arrives at Karachi Port, where it is deconsolidated at a Container


Freight Station (CFS), your consignment is separated and proceeds through customs clearance independently. LCL is the standard shipping method for importers whose order volumes don’t justify an entire container. Most first-time importers and smaller-scale regular importers use LCL for every shipment; it is not a compromise solution; it is the right tool for the volume range it serves.

Your Goods Are Consolidated at Our Yiwu Facility Before Loading

LCL consolidation forAl Fajar's Pakistan shipments happens at our Yiwu warehouse at [Yiwu warehouse address]. When your goods are ready at a supplier, they are collected and brought to our facility. Multiple importers' consignments are collected here, inspected, and then loaded together into a shared container for departure through Ningbo Port.

Using our own warehouse for consolidation rather than a third-party CFS we have no operational oversight of means your goods are in a facility our team manages. Before your cargo is loaded, we verify the carton count against your packing list, check outer packaging condition, and confirm your goods are suitable for LCL loading. Damaged or inadequately packaged goods are flagged before they go into the container, not discovered when they arrive in Pakistan.

For importers buying from more than one Yiwu supplier, our warehouse acts as the collection point for all orders. We coordinate the pickups, confirm all goods have arrived before booking, and consolidate the full order into one LCL consignment.

If you are importing from China for the first time, committing to a full container before you know how the goods sell is a significant risk. LCL lets you start with a quantity that matches your real demand, 50 pieces, 200 pieces, whatever your first order requires, without overstocking or paying for container space you don't need.

Small and medium importers shipping below 12–15 CBM.

If your typical order volume falls below 12–15 CBM, LCL is almost always more cost-effective than FCL. The per-CBM LCL rate is higher than the per-CBM rate of a full container, but when you compare total cost per shipment, LCL wins at lower volumes because you are not paying for unused container space.

Importers consolidating from multiple Yiwu suppliers

If you buy from several different suppliers across the Yiwu market, our warehouse collects goods from each factory and consolidates them into one LCL consignment. One shipment, one customs declaration, one tracking reference, rather than managing separate small shipments from each supplier.

Importers with irregular or seasonal volume.

LCL does not require volume consistency. If you ship twice a year, or your order sizes vary widely between seasons, LCL gives you flexibility that FCL container commitments do not.

LCL Is Priced Per CBM, Here Is What Affects Your Cost

LCL freight is charged per cubic metre (CBM). One CBM is one cubic metre of cargo a box measuring 1m × 1m × 1m. Most cartons are considerably smaller. A carton measuring 50cm × 40cm × 30cm is 0.06 CBM. Ten such cartons total 0.6 CBM.

 

The LCL rate per CBM includes sea freight from Ningbo to Karachi and standard handling at both the origin and destination CFS. Pakistan import customs duties and taxes are assessed separately based on your declared goods value and HS code classification they are not part of the freight rate and cannot be fixed in advance.

LCL Shipping Pakistan

LCL (Less than Container Load) means your cargo shares a container with other importers
you pay only for the CBM your goods occupy. FCL means you book the entire container for your
cargo alone. LCL suits volumes below 12–15 CBM; FCL is more cost-effective above that.

We accept LCL from 1 CBM. Shipments below 1 CBM are charged at a 1 CBM minimum. For
very small consignments under 0.5 CBM, express courier may be more economical we advise
at quote stage.

LCL is charged per CBM. The rate covers sea freight, consolidation and deconsolidation
handling, and destination terminal charges at Karachi. Pakistan customs duties are separate,
calculated on your declared goods value. Rates change with market conditions.

Yes, with proper packaging. Your goods share a container with other shipments and are
handled by forklifts during consolidation outer packaging must be robust. We check
packaging condition at our Yiwu warehouse before loading and flag any concerns.

Door-to-door typically 30–42 days. Sea transit is 18–25 days. Consolidation at Yiwu adds 2–5
days before departure; deconsolidation at Karachi CFS adds 2–4 days after arrival before customs
clearance begins.

Use LCL when your volume is below 12–15 CBM, when testing a new product with a smaller
order, when your shipping schedule is irregular, or when buying from multiple suppliers in small
quantities. LCL gives flexibility that container commitments do not.
